Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (HBA) chapter meetings have long been the cornerstone for bringing our builder and associate members together through networking, educational opportunities and recognition. There are 10 chapters representing 9 counties and the city of Atlanta.
Chapter meetings are held for various reasons, but most important is the exchange of information about government affairs activities within the metro area. Chapter meetings are the primary avenue for members to discuss challenges of large-scale regional issues impacting the entire homebuilding industry, as well as combating laws and regulations at the local government level that impact individual members.
Each chapter has a government affairs representative to work with HBA members and provide representation in addressing regional public policy issues and forming strategic partnerships with other special interest groups.
Chapter meetings cover a wide range of topics; economic updates, a state of the county address, county/city staff roundtable discussions and educational meetings are regularly occurring and among the most valuable to members. Each chapter’s executive committee sets meeting topics for the year at their annual planning session.
Networking is encouraged at registration and during lunch. There are two corporate sponsors per chapter meeting, which helps subsidize the costs incurred and gives as many associates as possible the chance to participate in the HBA corporate sponsorship program. At almost every chapter meeting, builders attend at no charge, thanks to corporate sponsors. Any member is welcome to attend any and all chapter meetings. Prospective members may attend one chapter meeting for free; encourage your coworkers who aren’t members to attend a chapter meeting and see what the HBA can do for them.
The chapters’ annual golf tournaments provide funds necessary to operate the chapters, but in recent years, enough money has been raised to give back in our local communities. Chapters gain positive media coverage and help strengthen bonds between the HBA and local communities, furthering our goal of building strong, sustainable communities.
